What counts as a tree emergency?

A tree that has fallen across open garden with no risk to anyone can usually wait for a normal daytime quote, which costs less than an out-of-hours callout.

Trees on roads and public land

A tree blocking a public road is the job of Worcestershire County Council as highway authority, or National Highways on motorways and major trunk roads. If it's a danger to traffic, call 999. Trees in parks and on verges usually belong to the district council.

Will my home insurance pay for emergency tree work?

Many buildings policies cover removing a fallen tree that has damaged your home, but not usually a tree that falls without causing damage. Call your insurer first if you can, take photos before work starts, and keep the invoice.

Can a protected tree be removed in an emergency?

Urgent work to remove an immediate risk of serious harm can go ahead without consent, but you must give the council written notice as soon as practicable. Do only what makes the tree safe and take dated photos.
